Navy brings fresh relief aid to typhoon victims in Bohol

The relief operations of the Philippine Navy (PN) for the victims of typhoon "Odette" in Bohol have been relentless as new batch of supplies were delivered to them over the weekend.

In a statement Sunday, Jan. 30, the PN said that BRP Federico Martir (PC385), one of Naval Forces Southern Luzon’s (NAVFORSOL) operationally controlled unit, transported relief goods from Batangas City Port and Castilla, Sorsogon Port to Cebu City Port last Friday.

The relief assistance were distributed to families greatly affected by Odette in Talibon, Bohol.

The relief goods were comprised of sacks of rice, boxes of assorted used clothing, boxes of noodles, grocery items, and stuffed toys which were donated by the Naval Forces Reserve – Southern Luzon headed by Commander Donald Ronquillo PN (GSC)(RES), NAVFORSOL, and Tactical Operations Group (TOG)-5.

"These efforts demonstrate NAVFORSOL’s unwavering support by bringing prompt, and effective assistance to the communities affected by the recent calamity," the NAVFORSOL said.

Bohol is one of the most affected areas when Odette wreaked havoc in Visayas on Dec. 16.

A total of 883,057 individuals were affected by the storm while at least 111 died, according to disaster officials.

But the PN has conducted numerous relief aid in the province to alleviate the suffering of the affected residents since last month.
