Robredo, OVP staff to 'give it all' in last 6 months

Presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo and her staff at the Office of the Vice President (OVP) will give their “all” in the next six months as they marked the first working day of the last six months of her term on Monday, Jan. 3.

OVP Undersecretary Philip Dy, who is also Robredo’s chief-of-staff, shared a photo he took of a bare wall at the Quezon City Reception House back on June 28, 2016, a few days before the Vice President and her staff “moved in.”

The QCRH is where Robredo holds office after she was elected vice president in the 2016 national elections.

Dy reminisced about the wall, which is currently adorned with a capiz finish on which the seal of the Office of the Vice President hangs.

“I can't help but feel bittersweet on the first working day of our last year in the OVP. It's been quite a journey. Time feels like it has passed both slowly and quickly. I can remember things from 2017 like it was yesterday, at the same time as (I am) reminiscing on events that took place in December 2019 like these were ages ago,” he wrote.

“When we leave, this wall will be bare again. We will give it all we've got, but what comes next is far from certain. But for now, allow me to say: my heart overflows with gratitude,” Dy added.

Six months, he said, isn’t that long anymore but he promised they will work the same way they always did.

“Doing more with less. Going over and above. Beating all the odds. Serving with urgent empathy, first and foremost. Just like VP Leni has always challenged us to do,” Dy stressed.

As he greeted everyone a Happy New Year, Robredo’s chief-of-staff lso said that 2022 is about fighting for the future, a sentiment shared by most of Robredo’s supporters.

On Sunday, Jan. 2, the OVP released a video presentation of its accomplishments in the past five-and-a-half years. Aside from its COVID-19 response and disaster relief operations, it also took pride in its medical assistance, youth empowerment, women empowerment, rural development, and sustainable livelihood programs.
