PAGASA warns of possible flash floods, landslides in E. VisMin due to shear line
Residents of eastern Visayas and Mindanao were advised to be vigilant against possible flash floods and landslides due to the shear line, also called the tail-end of frontal system.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, Jan. 3, said that in the next 24 hours, residents of the eastern Visayas and Mindanao may experience scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.
“Sa kasalukuyan ay shear line pa rin ‘yung umiiral at nagdudulot ng pagulan dito sa silangang bahagi ng Visayas at Mindanao (Currently, the shear line prevails in the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao),” said PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda in a public weather forecast.
Those residing in areas affected by the shear line were advised to be vigilant against hazards such as flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the State weather bureau said the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” may bring cloudy skies with light rains in Bicol region, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas may likewise experience partly cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.
“Sa kasalukuyan din po ay wala tayong minomonitor na sama ng panahon na maaaring makaapekto sa ating bansa (At present, we are not monitoring any weather disturbance that could affect our country),” Castañeda added. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
