The Makati City local government reported a spike in its COVID-19 cases after tallying more than 200 active cases from the previous 27 active cases recorded on Dec. 24.
According to the report of the Makati Health Department (MHD), the city now has 208 active COVID-19 cases as of Sunday, Jan. 2. It added that 44,205 Makatizens have recovered from the coronavirus, while 989 have died.
Barangay Pio Del Pilar recorded the most number of active COVID-19 cases with 20; followed by San Lorenzo with 19; Bel Air and Poblacion both with 17; Tejeros with 14; Rizal with 12; and San Antonio with 11.
As of Dec. 29, Makati City has deployed a total of 1,020,773 COVID-19 vaccines. Of this number, 454,971 have received their first dose while 429,690 have been fully vaccinated. The MHD added that 47,011 COVID-19 booster doses have also been administered to the public.
Makati City Mayor Abby Binay urged her constituents to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and to get boosted for those who have been fully vaccinated after three months.
