Expect rains, thunderstorms across PH due to several weather systems – PAGASA
Several weather systems may bring rain showers and thunderstorms in the country, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, Jan. 3.

In the next 24 hours, PAGASA said that the shear line, also called the tail-end of frontal system, the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) may bring rain showers and thunderstorms in the country.
The State weather bureau warned residents of eastern and Central Visayas, Caraga, northern Mindanao, Zamboanga City, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and mainland Palawan against scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to shear line and ITCZ.
Meanwhile, those residing in Bicol region, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon were warned against possible light rains that the northeast monsoon may bring.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country may likewise experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.
“Magandang balita naman dahil wala tayong binabantayan na sama ng panahon o low pressure area (LPA) na maaaring makaapekto sa ating bansa in the next two to three days (Currently, we are not monitoring any weather disturbance or LPA that could affect our country in the next two to three days),” said PAGASA weather specialist Ana Clauren in a public weather forecast.
