6,000 new COVID-19 cases possible in PH on Jan. 4 --- OCTA
The country’s new number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases could reach up to 6,000 on Tuesday, Jan. 4, said the OCTA Research group.

OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David, in a Twitter post on Monday evening, Jan. 3, said that "even with lower testing, there is a possibility that the country may record 5,000 up to 6,000 new cases."
Of this number, David said that 4,000 to 5,000 may be recorded in the National Capital Region (NCR) alone.
David likewise said that the positivity rate in NCR “picked up pace again” and has increased to a new record high of 34.7 percent.
This outranked the previously declared highest positivity rate of 29.6 percent which was recorded on April 2, 2021.
With these recent developments, OCTA urged the public to remain vigilant and to always observe minimum public health standards such as the proper wearing of masks and washing of hands to avoid the transmission of the virus. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
