PAL announces new travel protocols

Fully-vaccinated arriving Filipinos and eligible foreigners are required to present a negative RT-PCR test taken within 48 hours prior to departure from the country of origin, the Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced as part of the new protocols for travelers entering the country starting Tuesday, Feb. 1.

The flag carrier also said that travelers ill no longer be required to observe mandatory facility-based quarantine upon arrival.

However, they shall self-monitor for any sign or symptom of COVID for 7 days, with the first day being the day of arrival.

Travelers are also required to report to the local government unit (LGU) of their destination should any symptoms manifest.

Part of the requirement is proof of vaccination against COVID-19 recognized under existing Inter- Agency Task Force (IATF) regulations. This include the World Health Organization International Certificate of Vaccination, a VaxCertPH certification or a National/State digital certificate of the foreign government which has accepted VaxCertPH under a reciprocal arrangement, unless otherwise accepted by the IATF.

Unvaccinated and partially-vaccinated travelers, as well as those whose vaccination status cannot be validated, should present a negative RT-PCR test taken within 48 hours prior to departure from the country of origin.

They are also required to undergo facility-based quarantine until the release of negative RT-PCR test results to be taken on the 5th day of quarantine.

They shall observe home quarantine until the 14th day from the day of arrival. Their home quarantine will be monitored by the LGU of destination and their Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams.

Children under 12 years old who cannot be vaccinated shall follow the quarantine protocols of the parent or guardian traveling with them.

Starting Feb. 10, 2022, fully vaccinated nationals of non-visa required countries can enter the Philippines, provided their passports are valid for 6 months from time of arrival and they hold return tickets to their country of origin or to their next destination.

They must have proof of vaccination against COVID-19 that are recognized under existing IATF regulations.
