Brooks eager to face Pacio soon

Should ONE Championship insert an additional bout in its tenth-year anniversary event ONE: X in March, strawweight rising star Jarred Brooks is down to do business with reigning champion Joshua Pacio.

"I'm looking to beat people with a stamp. Like I said, I wanna beat Joshua Pacio with a stamp and I'm gonna put him out of there just like I did his teammate Lito ," said Brooks, who rolled on to his second straight promotional win after dominating Hiroba Minowa in ONE: Only the Brave Friday, Jan. 28, in a post-fight interview.

"I'm more than happy to . I'm looking to get a lot of cash and get some belt. I want to spring myself in this promotion as much as possible," added the No. 3 contender as he improved to an 18-2 record.

Pacio, for his part, congratulated Brooks for the win but left some friendly reminder, saying "they've seen nothing yet" and owning the whole strawweight division.

In response to that, Brooks said the Team Lakay stalwart can take as much time as he can before settling business with him.

"I don't think he wants to fight me anytime really soon. I think he probably wants to fight me July or something. He can take as much time as he wants to prepare," said Brooks. "Like I said, I think I can beat Joshua Pacio right now."

Brooks, however, still gave his hat off to the Igorot warrior for keeping the strawweight belt since capturing it in April 2019 against Japanese rival Yosuke Saruta.

Since then, the 25-year-old Pacio has defended his title against the likes Rene Catalan, Brazilian star Alex Silva, and Saruta once more.

While giving kudos to all of Pacio's achievements the past couple of years, Brooks also left a warning to the Team Lakay star.

"But he's gotten beat by people like Saruta and he has gotten better, don't get me wrong. But I'm not Saruta. I'm not these other guys," he added.

Now it all boils down if ONE Championship or Chatri Sidyodtong himself approves such speculations and scenarios to make the Pacio-Brooks championship bout a reality come March.
