Bishop Pabillo cites importance of reading the Holy Bible

As the Catholic Church observes National Bible Week, Taytay, Palawan Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo cited the importance of reading the Holy Bible as a means of communicating with God.

"The Word of God is available to us anytime. We can always go back and reacquaint ourselves with it. And as we pray and ponder on God’s teachings, the deeper our knowledge of the Sacred Scriptures will be,” Bishop Pabillo said in an Archdiocese of Manila post.

"As we go through our daily struggles and in our confusion, let us be guided by the Word of God in the Holy Bible. Let us read it, reflect on it and feel the presence and joy of our Savior despite the difficult times,” the Church leader stressed.

The prelate said the Bible helps the faithful to pray.

“The Bible helps us to talk to Jesus. The Bible helps us to pray. If we love Jesus, let us do as He commands. His commandments are in the Bible.” The bishop said.

Meanwhile, in observance of the Week of Prayer and Christian Unity, Bishop Pabillo urged the faithful to recognize other religious denominations as they help propagate the Word of God.

“God’s Word comes to us in many forms, through our environment, our history, and through our conscience when we pray,” he said.
