Warm, humid weather over most of PH due to easterlies

The easterlies or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean will be the dominant weather system in the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday, Jan. 28.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms may prevail over the country except for the extreme northern Luzon.

PAGASA advised the public to take precautions as flash floods or landslides may sometimes occur during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, it said the shear line may continue to bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

"Under these conditions, scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in areas with significant antecedent rainfall," PAGASA said.

Moreover, it urged the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned to take appropriate actions.

"PAGASA Regional Services Division may issue local heavy rainfall warnings, rainfall/thunderstorm advisories, and other severe weather information specific to their areas of responsibility as appropriate," PAGASA said in a weather advisory.
