Omega Esports frustrates Origen, sets up clash vs NXPE

Omega Esports showed veteran poise and frustrated Origen Esports, 2-0, in their best-of-three match in the lower bracket of the 2022 Sibol National Team Selection on Friday, Jan. 28.

Although the match ended with a sweep, Omega Esports had to dig deep in the late game to turn things around against Origen during the two-game stretch.

Omega first found itself trailing in the early to mid-game of the series opener as Origen focused on its objective game using his Cjay’s jungle Baxia. Origen’s non-stop lane pressure also created problems for Omega as the amateur squad shrunk the map of the veteran MPL team by taking out all of its outer turrets.

Omega, though, held on and survived a Lord march at the 11-minute mark before a perfect counter initiation from the MSC kings eliminated three heroes to the side Origen. Omega secured an uncontested Lord to seal the first point of the series with a 15-8 come-from-behind win.

Christian "Raizen" Sumagui shone on the Aulus jungle pick with a near-perfect 7-1-3 KDA.

It was a déjà vu of some sort in Game 2 as just like in the opening game, Omega completed another comeback following a huge initiation from Renz “Renzio” Cadua’s Yu Zhong. Although the clash resulted to only one casualty on the part of Origen, the fight allowed Omega to create a space for a free Lord take.

Omega then pounced Origen in the following clashes to close out the series, 12-14. Ch4knu dictated the pace with a 1-2-11 KDA on his Estes while Patrick "E2max" Caidic top scored the team with a 5-3-6 showing.

Omega will next face Nexplay Evos in the second round of the lower bracket. NXPE lost earlier to Blacklist International, 3-0.
