Navotas City now at moderate risk for COVID-19

Navotas City Mayor Tobias “Toby” Tiangco said on Thursday, Jan. 27, that the city is now at moderate risk for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

According to independent research group OCTA, the city recorded a very low or 0.46 COVID-19 reproduction rate during the Jan. 19-25 monitoring period.

The data also showed that Navotas has the lowest seven-day average of additional cases in Metro Manila which is equivalent to 45, and average daily attack rate (ADAR) of 16.63.

The city has a high-risk intensive care utilization rate (HCUR) of 7%, and growth rate of -77%.

In a Twitter update, OCTA research fellow Dr. Guido David said Caloocan, Malabon, Valenzuela and Manila have also improved to moderate risk while the rest of the National Capital Region (NCR) is still at high risk.

The OCTA Research earlier reported that NCR was at very high risk for COVID-19 infections last Jan. 17.

David urged the public not to be complacent with the latest data and still follow the health protocols.

Meanwhile, Tiangco congratulated the residents of Navotas for their continued cooperation to limit the outbreak and reduce COVID-19 cases in the city.

As of Jan. 27, the city logged 231 active COVID-19 cases, 20,068 recoveries, and 625 deaths.
