PAGASA: LPA may exit PAR in 24 to 48 hours

The low pressure area (LPA) spotted south-southwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) within 24 to 48 hours, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, Jan. 27.

As of 3:00 a.m., the LPA was located 190 kilometers (km) south-southwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

“Ang magiging track ng LPA ay pa-kanluran at inaasahan po nating lalabas ng PAR ngayong araw o bukas. Ito ay nananatiling mababang tiyansa na magiging bagyo, pero dahil sa LPA inaasahan po natin ngayong araw ang mga pag-ulan sa ilang bahagi ng southern Luzon (The LPA will move westward and it is expected to exit the PAR today or tomorrow. It remains less likely to develop into a tropical cyclone, but due to the LPA we are expecting rains in parts of southern Luzon today),” said PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio in a public weather forecast.

Meanwhile, residents of Palawan, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and Quezon were warned against possible flashfloods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains that the LPA and shear line may bring.

The State weather bureau added that Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
