Olsim driven to face Radzuan after loss to Phogat

Team Lakay's Jenelyn Olsim is set to return to the Circle with more resolve when she faces Malaysian foe Jihin Radzuan in ONE: Bad Blood at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Feb. 11.

"I'm super back in action this February and I'm excited to fight again," said Olsim, who suffered her first promotional loss against Indian rising star Ritu Phogat in the women's atomweight grand prix semifinal last in October.

"My fight with Ritu taught me to be more focused, that I need to have that presence of mind and to execute the game plan in actuality. On the training aspect, nothing has changed. All I have to do now is to execute."

Olsim was slated to face Radzuan in November last year but the Team Lakay stalwart served as a replacement for the injured Itsuki Hirata, who was originally scheduled to face Phogat.

The Igorot warrior tried to level with Phogat's wrestling prowess with her counter-grappling and attempted a couple of submission.

But Phogat's raw strength proved to be too much for the Team Lakay warrior as the Indian prospect scored takedowns after takedowns.

"I can say that I really learned a lot from that loss, but that loss has made me way more driven and more aggressive. Like what coach Mark always says, it's either we win or we learn," said Olsim, who holds a 5-3 record.

Radzuan, for her part, last saw action in December 2020 with a unanimous decision win against ONE veteran Bi Nguyen.

Prior to that, the Malaysian fighter, who has a 6-2 record, had a fair share of wins and losses throughout her ONE Championship career.
