WTFu (What the FU) by MR.FU: Love is Essential by La Greta

'Love Is Essential' project by Gretchen Barretto

Every celebrity has his own way of making himself busy if he has no showbiz engagement. (walang basagan ng trip!) Some of them would give so much time to social media. Either they talk about themselves or provoke other people for an argument or discussion. (pa-relevant o minsan nangaaway lang para makapagingay!) Other personalities produce content for TikTok. (para lang may exposure kahit minsan di naman nakakaaliw!) But there are those artists who just enjoy their privacy with their families while waiting for projects to come. (ayaw magbida-bida!)

For actress Gretchen Barretto, there are two things she wants to focus on while enjoying her “no showbiz” time: appreciating people and helping those in need. During the start of the start of the pandemic, colleagues received sacks of rice and boxes of groceries tagged as the Love Boxes from her. (na pangmayaman ang laman ha!) She even sponsored love boxes and wheelchairs for the viewers of our digital show with Nay Lolit Solis and Nay Cristy Fermin. (siyempre may special gift din kami from her! damay ang buong staff!)

Recently, she sent essential goods to frontliners and hospitals. (as in truck truck ito!)

One of the beneficiaries was the San Lazaro Hospital. She has been helping this institution since 2014. She would coordinate with her friend Dr. Cherry Abrenica when visiting the hospital with her daughter Dominique. She also extended her hand to St. Luke's Global in BGC as her way of gratitude to the doctors and nurses who took good care of her mother. Her Mommy Inday was confined to this hospital due to COVID-19 and recovered days later.

Gretchen has lined-up other medical institutions for the next batch of deliveries of goods like the Philippine General Hospital, St Luke’s Hospital QC, National Children’s Hospital and the National Center for Mental Health. (hindi papaawat si La Greta!) She is grateful to her friends Ana Abiera, Rusky Fernandez, Grace Medina, Francis Simeon and some volunteers who always take time to spread the spirit of sharing. For Gretchen, this is a way of expressing love for others because for her love is indeed essential. (naku dapat maging friend na talaga kita!)
