QC receives 2 new fire trucks from BFP

The Quezon City government has received two new units of fire trucks from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) that will help the city’s response to fire incidents and other emergencies.

Mayor Joy Belmonte and Senior Supt. Gary Alto, QC Fire District director, received the additional fire trucks with 1,000-gallon capacity during a virtual turnover ceremony on Tuesday, Jan 25,

The local government said the vehicles, which were part of 65 fire trucks provided by the BFP to different cities and provinces under its modernization plan, will be assigned to the QC Central Fire Station and Galas Fire Substation in the fourth district.

Republic Act 11589 or the "BFP Modernization Law," approved on Sep.10,2021 by President Duterte, mandates the BFP to develop and implement a fire protection modernization program to expand its manpower, acquire modern fire equipment, and for firefighters to undergo specialized training, according to Philippine News Agency.

Senator Bong Go, the principal author of the law, and Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año were also present during the virtual ceremony.
