Over 200 micro-entrepreneurs receive livelihood assistance from QC's SIGA program

A total of 228 micro-entrepreneurs in Quezon City received P5,000 livelihood assistance on Tuesday, Jan. 25.

The aid was given through the Small Income Generating Assistance (SIGA) program initiated by Vice Mayor Gian Sotto and the city’s Social Services Development Department (SSDD).

The SIGA program aims to extend livelihood assistance to growing small businesses and sari-sari store owners in the city. It also intends to help the entrepreneurs recover from the economic downturn brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a speech, Quezon City Mayor Joy recognized the small businesses that managed to thrive despite the pandemic.

Vice Mayor Sotto and SSDD chief Fe Macale led the distribution of financial assistance to all beneficiaries.

On Dec. 4, 2021, the SSDD also launched “Sikap at Galing Pangkabuhayan (SIGAP)” wherein 16 small business groups received their initial payouts.

More or less 300 small business owners also benefited from the SIGA program last Dec. 7.
