A former policeman was shot dead by three unidentified gunmen in Tondo, Manila on Tuesday, Jan. 25.

Manila Police District (MPD) director Brig. Gen. Leo M. Francisco identified the victim as Richard Manabat Ramos, 44, a resident of Manila.

Ramos left the police force after three years of service, according to Maj. Mark Del Mundo of the Asuncion Police Community Precinct.

Based on the MPD report, Ramos and his brother were drinking on Tuazon St. in Tondo at around 9:45 p.m. on Jan. 25 when a dark green van with the plate number ZNU 201 suddenly pulled over.

Three suspects got off the van and shot Ramos, killing him instantly.

The gunmen then drove off towards Road 10.

The MPD Forensic Unit (MPD-FU) and Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered from the scene spent cartridges and bullet fragments.

A follow-up investigation is underway to determine if Ramos had enemies or if the killing was related to his service in the police force.
