DBP supports Filipino inventors

The Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) is partnering with the Filipino Inventors Society, Inc. (FIS) for viable local projects and indigenous technologies.

Specifically, the state'owned bank is developing the Inventor’s Pitch - a bridging program to commercialize five local inventions in agriculture, health care and environment sectors via a P2.5-Million grant.

Filipino inventors and scientists should have better access to financing to produce their work commercially, stressed DBP President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel G. Herbosa.

“Since market potential and commercial viability are very important, we hope to support Filipino inventors from the drawing board to actual implementation and even production,’’ he confirmed.

DBP is likewise open to exploring other means of supporting Filipino inventors, scientists, and entrepreneurs to fast-track the incubation of more concepts and initiatives.

FIS is a non-government organization of Filipino inventors who hold patents to their works and innovations in the Philippines and overseas.

Its members include professionals and entrepreneurs espousing the development of indigenous technology.
