Muntinlupa police nab 978 persons for quarantine, ordinance violations
The Muntinlupa police have apprehended 978 individuals for violations of quarantine protocols, traffic rules, and other city ordinances.
Muntinlupa acting police chief Col. Angel Garcillano reported that the violators were apprehended from Jan. 1 to 23.

Of the 978 individuals, 892, or 91 percent, were nabbed for not wearing face masks. This is in violation of Muntinlupa City Ordinance 2020-109, which requires all persons in Muntinlupa “to wear face masks at all times outside of their residences, at the workplace, when entering government buildings and offices, and while in public places.”
In addition, 54 persons were caught for violating curfew, 35 for traffic violations, 22 for smoking, seven for appearing half-naked in public, and three for drinking liquor in public places.
The Muntinlupa police are also implementing the “no vaccination, no ride” policy under City Ordinance 2022-309.
Under the ordinance, unvaccinated individuals are barred from domestic travel via public transportation except when they are buying essential goods and services such as food, water, medicine, medical devices, public utilities and energy; for work, and for medical and dental services.
They are also prohibited in indoor and outdoor or al fresco dining in restaurants and other food establishments and leisure or social trips to malls, hotels, event venues, and sports and country clubs.
Unvaccinated individuals are allowed to exercise within the general area of their residence such as barangay, purok, subdivision or village.
The Commission on Elections and the Muntinlupa police have also set up Comelec checkpoints in the city to implement the gun ban that is in effect from Jan. 9 to June 8 in connection with the May 9 national and local elections.
