Here's the first trailer of Guillermo del Toro's 'Pinocchio'

The stop-motion animation feature is set to premiere on Netflix this December
After his masterworks “The Shape of Water” (2017) and “Nightmare Alley” (2021), Oscar award-winning director Guillermo del Toro is back. This time, he is reimagining the famous tale of a wooden boy that spun generations of dreamers, “Pinnochio.” With Mark Gustafson as co-director, the stop-animation musical feature will be del Toro's first directorial work with Netflix.
On Jan. 24, the streaming platform releases a brief teaser about the upcoming animated movie. “I want to tell you a story,” says Ewan McGregor as Sebastian J. Cricket in the teaser. “It’s a story you may think you know, but you don’t. Not really.”
Its stellar voice cast features David Bradley as Geppetto, Gregory Mann as Pinocchio, and Tilda Swinton as Fairy with Turquoise Hair. Joining them are Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, Burn Gorman, and Christoph Waltz.
The movie is based on 1880’s “The Adventures of Pinocchio,” a timeless story by Italian writer Carlo Collodi, with its prime character whose nose grows long when he tells a lie and dreams of becoming a real boy. It became a cultural icon all around the world and celebrated its 140th-anniversary last year.
In Guillermo's version, the story will take place in 1930s Fascist Italy and promises to be a “dark, twisted retelling” with “a story of love and disobedience as Pinocchio struggles to live up to his father’s expectations” at its core.
