Bren-Blacklist showdown headlines Sibol Phase 2

An early clash between Bren Esports and Blacklist International headlines the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Sibol Qualifiers Phase 2 matches which is set to unfurl on Thursday, Jan 27.

The top 4 teams in the MPL Philippines Season 8, namely Blacklist, Onic Philippines, Omega Esports and Nexplay Evos, got direct invites to the second phase and will take on Phase 1 survivors Bren, RSG Philippines, El Ganador Esports and Origen in a double-elimination format.

Bren, which easily cruised to Phase 2 following a stellar performance in the first stage, will take on Blacklist’s Sibol lineup led by the M3 World Championship trio of Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario, Jonmar “OhmyV33nus” Villaluna and Salic “Hadji” Imam in the first round of the upper bracket.

The reigning M3 World champions though will be without young stars Edward “EDWARD” Dapadap and Kiel “Oheb” Soriano due to the Southeast Asian Games age restriction. Taking their roles are amateur standouts Kyle Dominic “Dominic” Soto and Lee Howard “Owl” Gonzales.

RSG PH, which made a good account of itself in the first phase after taking down powerhouse squad, ECHO in Phase 1, will figure in another huge collision against the Joshua “Chaknu” Mangilog and Patrick “E2MAX” Caidic-led Omega Esports.

Meanwhile, amateur teams El Ganador Esports and Origen Esports will get their baptism of fire in Phase 2 when they lock horns against MPL teams Nexplay Evos and M3 World Championship runner-up Onic Philippines respectively.

First two rounds of the tournament will be a best-of-three showdown while the semifinals will be in a best-of-five affair. Grand Finals will be a best-of-seven series with the winner taking the lone spot in the Sibol national team selection and will get the chance to defend the country’s title in the Southeast Asian Games MLBB event in Hanoi, Vietnam in May.

The four-day tournament will be streamed through Sibol official Facebook page.
