Pasig barangay allots P500k for scholarship program

Barangay San Antonio (BSA) in Pasig City allocated on Friday, Jan. 21, a total of P500,000 for college grant scholarships to resident scholars of the barangay.

BSA Chairman Raymond Lising signed the P 500,000 in checks to be distributed among the 110 BSA college scholars in the upcoming college semester.

“Ito ang isang programa na maganda ang maiiwan na legacy sa aming komunidad. Isa din ito sa dahilan kaya natin pinarami ang beneficiaries ng BSA College Scholarship Program, mula sa 20 scholars umabot na ng 110 scholars (This program will leave behind a lasting legacy in our community. This is one reason why we are accepting more and more students as beneficiaries for the BSA College Scholarship Program, from 20 scholars we now have 110),” said Lising.

“Ayon nga sa balita, maraming estudyante ang napilitang huminto sa pag-aaral dahil nahihirapan ang kanilang mga magulang na magbayad ng matrikula dahil sa epekto ng pandemya (According to the news, many students are forced to stop studying because their parents are struggling to pay for their tuition amid the pandemic),” he added.

Student beneficiaries of the BSA program will receive P1,500 in allowance every month, and free school supplies at the start of every school year.

The BSA College Scholarship program is aimed primarily at indigent students whose families do not have stable income and has been active since 2019.
