Anti-narcotics operatives seized over P5 million worth of ecstasy during a controlled delivery operation in Quezon City on Saturday night, Jan. 22.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said two suspects were arrested during the operation, identified as Evelyn Sotto, also known as Jennica Abas, and Genevie Abas.
Reports disclosed that the operation was conducted based on the tip from Shenzen Chinese Customs to PDEA pertaining to a package coming from the Netherlands that may contain illegal drugs.
When the package arrived in the country on Jan. 20, authorities discovered that it contained tablets of ecstasy concealed in its interlayer cardboard.
The suspects were arrested when they claimed the package with 3,034 tablets of the party drug.
The suspects are facing charges of violation of Section 4 (importation of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as “The Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’
