Pinoy imports to see action this weekend

Ray Parks Jr. looks to help the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins solidify their hold on third spot in the West when they face Levanga Hokkaido in the resumption of Japan’s B.League.

Parks and the Diamond Dolphins host Hokkaido at the Dolphins Arena for the two weekend games which will both start at 2:05 p.m. Philippine time.

Nagoya has put itself in a good position to make the six-team playoffs with an 18-8 record before the league went on a break, supposedly for the All-Star Game which was later cancelled due to COVID-19.

Other two-game sets this weekend pits Dwight Ramos and the Toyama Grouses against the Mikawa Sea Horses, Kobe Paras and struggling Niigata Albirex opposite Matthew Aquino and the Shinshu Brave Warriors and Javi Gomez de Liano and the Ibaraki Robots facing the Hiroshima Dragonflies.

The Shiga Lakestars-San-En Neophenix series which would feature another faceoff between brothers Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena was postponed after three players from the latter’s team tested positive for COVID.

A two-game set in the second division between seldom-used Kemark Carino and the Aomori Wat's against Earthfriends Tokyo Z, which recently released Juan Gomez de Liano, was also put on hold due to a similar health situation.

Meanwhile, Kai Sotto hopes to get some playing minutes for the Adelaide 36ers in their match against Melbourne United Saturday in Australia’s National Basketball League.

Sotto was in uniform but didn’t play when the 36ers stunned erstwhile leader Perth Wildcats, 87-74, last Tuesday.

In Taiwan, Jason Brickman aims to keep the hot form of the Kaoshing Aquas on Sunday against the Taiwan Beer Hotbears in the T1 League.

Jordan Heading and the Taichung Suns play New Taipei City CTBC while Caelan Tiongson and struggling Taoyuan face New Taipei on Saturday.
