The chance to once again play for coach Chot Reyes was a determining factor in Matt Ganuelas-Rosser’s decision to sign with TNT as an unrestricted free agent.
His agent Charlie Dy bared Saturday, Jan. 22 that negotiations were swift after the scrappy forward declined an offer by Terrafirma for an extension.
That reason was due to his desire to be under Reyes, who once had Ganuelas-Rosser during a stint as Gilas Pilipinas coach.
“It was a very fast deal,” Dy said during his appearance in the program Power and Play of former PBA commissioner Noli Eala.
“He wants to play under Coach Chot who got him when he first came to the Philippines and play for Gilas,” he added.
Ganuelas-Rosser was one of two amateur players when Reyes steered Gilas to the 2012 William Jones Cup in Taipei. He played only three of the eight games during the week-long competition.
The 31-year-old is also making a return to his first PBA team, hoping to help TNT win a second straight crown following its recent success in the Philippine Cup.
He has been playing solid for Terrafirma since being traded from San Miguel Beer last year as part of the CJ Perez before his contract expired Dec. 31.
PBA players drafted starting in 2014 can become unrestricted free agents after their seventh year in the league, meaning offers by any team are welcome once contracts have ended.
