‘Encanto’’s ‘We Don't Talk About Bruno’ surpasses ‘Frozen’’s ‘Let It Go’ on Billboard chart

Let’s talk about Bruno this time

Bruno just defeated Elsa, well, on the Billboard’s Hot 100 song chart that is. The song “We Don't Talk About Bruno” from the 2021 animated film “Encanto” surpasses the record set by fellow Disney movie, 2013’s “Frozen,” and its anthem “Let It Go” by taking the No. 4 spot on the music list. During its peak, “Let It Go” landed on No. 5 in the said list.

“‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno,’ by Carolina Gaitán, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, Stephanie Beatriz, and the ‘Encanto’ Cast, ascends 5-4 for a new Hot 100 highpoint,” Billboard reported. “It drew 29 million streams (up 15 percent) and tops Streaming Songs for a second week and sold 8,000 (up 10 percent) and pushes 6-3 on Digital Song Sales.”

This new record makes the “Encanto” song the sixth animated film soundtrack ever to top Billboard’s ranking. Other Disney animated movie songs that made their mark on the list are Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle’s “A Whole New World” from “Aladdin” in 1993, Elton John’s “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from “The Lion King” in 1994, Vanessa Williams’ “Colors of the Wind” from “Pocahontas” in 1995, and Idina Menzel’s “Let It Go” from Frozen in 2014.

The songs for the movie “Encanto” were written by Broadway star and Tony award-winning artist Lin-Manuel Miranda and put into the rhythm by noted film composer Germaine Franco. Currently, the movie is available for streaming on Disney+.
