Use of bamboo for culture-based arts eyed by DOST, DLS-College of St. Benilde
To identify and explore a “future collaborative work” on the use of bamboo, faculty members of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) visited the bamboo musical instruments (BMI) processing center and furniture testing laboratory of the Department of Science and Technology Forest Product Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI).

In its highlights of accomplishments, DOST said that a possible collaboration on the “integration of aeolian tone in architectural design” of houses was discussed with DLS-CSB.
According to DOST, the aeolian tone in architectural design benefits the visually impaired. It is also referred to as a “classical musical tone produced by the passage of a current of air over a stretched string.”
“Collaboration in the field of environment, arts, and culture specifically on music production or sound design for instrumentation or music were also identified as possible areas for partnership. The DLS-CSB’s Fine Arts program plans to add bamboo for culture-based arts in film making,” DOST added.
