PH gets 1.8M AstraZeneca shots


The country received its latest supply of anti-coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine with the arrival of 1,877,600 doses of AstraZeneca shot on Friday, Jan. 21.

The vaccines were delivered through China Airlines flight CI701 around 9:30 a.m. at Terminal 1 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

The vaccines were welcomed by Assistant Sec. Wilben Mayor, from the Nation Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19; Dir. Richard Colley and Ambassador Laure Beaufils from the British Embassy; Ms. Lotis Ramin, from AstraZeneca Philippines; Amb. Annika Thunborg from the Embassy of Sweden; and Victor Sepulveda, Hhead of government affairs, Astrazeneca Philippines.

The vaccine arrival came just in time as the government piloted the COVID-19 vaccination program in pharmacies and clinics to expand the coverage of the national inoculation program.
