DOST provides updates on 'mix and match' vaccine study

The status of the mixing and matching of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines was provided by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through its weekly report of accomplishments.

DOST’s Philippine Council for Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) reported through its weekly report of accomplishments that a total of 367 participants have been screened, 302 have been enrolled, 302 individuals were vaccinated with their first dose, and 33 have already received their second dose of the vaccine for the “mix and match” vaccine study in Muntinlupa, Marikina, and Manila as of Dec. 28, 2021.

“The study is a multi-site, convenience sampling, unblinded trial which will determine the safety and immunogenicity of completing the vaccination series with available COVID-19 vaccines in the Philippines in those given Sinovac as the first dose,” said DOST.

The Department said that the study was led by Dr. Michelle De Vera from the Philippine Society for Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (PSSAI). According to DOST, the study aims to enroll 3,000 participants aged 18 years old and above in Metro Manila, Cebu, and Davao.
