DOH praises Manila's COVID-19 response

Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque praised Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and the Manila City government’s response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and vaccine deployment during the pilot launch of the “Resbakuna sa mga Botika” on Thursday, Jan. 20.

“Sya po ay punung-puno ng innovative approach kung paano lalabanan ang pandemya at paano mas mapapahusay ang pagtulong at pagsasakatuparan ng mga programa lalo na sa pangkalusugan (He has taken innovative approaches in the campaign against the pandemic and he has worked towards improving and implementing different health programs),” said Duque at the launch.

The Manila City Government, in collaboration with Mercury Drug, launched a drugstore COVID-19 vaccination site at the Mercury Drug drive-thru branch along Quirino Avenue in Malate, Manila on Jan. 20 with Domagoso, Duque, Vice Mayor Doctor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, Manila 3rd District Representative Yul Servo-Nieto, and Manila City Health Officer Doctor Arnold Pangan in attendance.

Meanwhile, the Manila City Government has numerous ongoing vaccination programs including three different drive-thru COVID-19 booster vaccination sites, the recently unveiled Manila Zoo vaccination site, and the planned vaccination site at the Dolomite Beach.

As part of the “Resbakuna sa mga Botika” kick-off, seven drugstores in Metro Manila will begin offering vaccination, starting with around 500 doses of COVID-19 vaccine per week equivalent to about 3,500 doses weekly.

Vaccinees must register online through the respective drugstore’s website.

“Nanawagan po kami na yung mga hindi pa bakunado, please makinig po tayo sa sinasabi ng science at DOH, hindi iyong mga sabi-sabi o haka-haka lang. Marami na po kayong access para sa bakuna—may drive-thru, meron sa mga paaralan, health centers, mga malls, Manila Zoo, at ngayon, sa mga pharmacies (We call on the unvaccinated, please listen to science and to the DOH, not to rumors or speculation. Vaccines are accessible– we have sites that are drive-thru, in schools, health centers, malls, in Manila Zoo, and now in pharmacies),” said Domagoso.
