Surplus vaccines against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Metro Manila should be shipped to other regions to enable other provinces to catxh up with the capital region's high vaccination rate.

In a news briefing on Friday, Jan. 21, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño explained the necessity of consolidating the number of vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals in the localities as some get inoculated outside the barangays where they reside, including himself who got jabbed at the DILG head office.
“Kung sobra ang bakuna sa NCR (National Capital Region) pwede na dalhin sa provbinsiya (If there is an excess of the vaccine in NCR, this can be brought to the provinces),’’ Diño said.
Further, Diño emphasized that this will address the complaints of some local chief executives (LCEs) in the provinces that NCR was being prioritized in the delivery of the COVID-19 vaccine supply even as COVID-19 cases in their respective areas were also soaring.
