Bongbong camp: Endorsement of Sara by Cusi's PDP-Laban a 'unilateral move'
The camp of presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said Friday, Jan. 20 there is still no formal signing of alliance between his partner, vice presidential candidate Sara Dutere-Carpio, and the Cusi-wing PDP Laban party, which earlier announced its adoption of the latter as its bet for the upcoming elections.
Lawyer Vic Rodriguez, Marcos Jr.'s spokesman, called as "unilateral" PDP-Laban's move to adopt Duterte-Carpio as the party's vice presidential candidate.
"The political parties (Lakas-CMD and Hugpong ng Pagbabago) of Mayor Sara informed us that there was no signing of an accord between them and PDP-Laban, nor a semblance of any formality to forge an agreement for Mayor Sara’s 'adoption' and that they remain strongly committed to its alliance," Rodriguez said, referring to Duterte-Carpio and Marcos Jr.'s alliance called BBM-Sara UniTeam.
Nevertheless, Rodriguez called PDP-Laban's announcement as "but an expression of its freedom of choice" and it "deserves" their utmost respect.
On Friday, PDP-Laban announced that it will be supporting the daughter of President Duterte, its party leader, for the vice presidency for the upcoming elections.
PDP-Laban said in a press conference it has not made a presidential choice yet because the party is not yet convinced with Marcos Jr. and other candidates to become its pick.
