Boom Esports lived up to the billing as it topped the SEA DPC Winter Tour following its 2-0 victory against Execration and T1’s loss to Fnatic on Wednesday, Jan. 19.

The crew, whose players are majority Filipino, came into the tournament red-hot following a stellar showing in the off-season. Boom proved that the performances were no fluke as it owned the Winter Tour standings with a 6-1 record capped by the domination against EXE.
Coming from its first taste of defeat in the season against T1, Boom vented its ire on the lowly Execration. Boom was methodical in the series opener, swiftly dissecting EXE in its 35-10 onslaught in just 19-minutes of play.
And as if that was still not enough, Boom continued the beatdown in the second game with an even more dominant 37-9 victory to end the series.
Erin Jasper “Yopaj” Ferrer continued to be the man for Boom as he unleashed a scintillating 17-1-11 on his Ember Spirit in Game 1 before following it up with an equally impressive 10-2-17 line in Game 2
After posting a 4-0-14 line on the Razor in the first game, Justin Ryan “Tino” Grimaldo followed Yopaj and led the outburst in the second game with a 13-2-11 KDA on the same hero.
T1 actually had the chance to catch Boom at the top of the standing but its 2-1 loss to Fnatic doomed its chance of toppling the Indonesia-based team from the top spot which it held for the most part of the season following its 5-0 start to the tournament.
Boom was supposed to secure a spot in the Winter Major but since the first LAN event of the season got shelved due to the current rise of COVID-19 cases around the globe, the squad will only get 300 DPC points and $30,000 or roughly P1.5 million pesos top prize.
