Shear line to bring moderate to heavy rains over E. Visayas, Caraga -- PAGASA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday, Jan. 2, said the shear line, or the convergence of warm and cold winds, may bring moderate to heavy rains over Eastern Visayas and Caraga in the next 24 hours.
PAGASA also said that light to moderate with, at times, heavy rains are also likely over Davao Oriental, Central Visayas, and Northern Mindanao.
"Under these conditions, scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in areas with significant antecedent rainfall," PAGASA warned.
It advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned to take appropriate actions.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or "amihan" is expected to continue to bring cold weather and some rains over the rest of the country in the next few days.
Weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin also said that PAGASA has not monitored a weather disturbance that may develop into a low pressure area within the next three days.
