Returning Pinay who breached health protocol to face raps- Año

The returning Filipina, who skipped the Makati hotel quarantine regulations to attend a party butwas later tested positive for the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19), will surely face charges once she recovers from the disease, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said on Sunday, Jan. 2

Año said that Gwyneth Anne Chua should be held accountable for breaching the government's health standards.

“Yes, kakasuhan natin 'yan (we will file cases against her),” Año said.

Reports disclosed that Chua checked in at Berjaya on Dec. 22 and went to a bar nearby the following day. She was later tested COVID-19 positive on Dec. 27 and was “extracted” from the Makati Avenue hotel on Dec. 29, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said.

The DOT reported that some those who attended the party and bar personnel also contracted the virus.

On Jan. 1, the hotel management said it is fully cooperating with the investigation and will enforce stiff sanctions on “any employee found errant by commission or omission’’ to avoid another health protocol violation in the establishment. (Chito A. Chavez)
