The Department of Health (DOH) said that at least 85 percent of patients in Metro Manila who are admitted in intensive care units (ICU) are unvaccinated.

“Over the week, we have noted a steady increase in hospital admissions in Metro Manila. Data from DOH hospitals in NCR (National Capital Region) shows that 85 percent of those in the ICU and requiring mechanical ventilator are not vaccinated at all,” the DOH noted in an advisory.

The DOH reiterated its appeal to the public to get vaccinated already, saying that the country already has enough supply of vaccines and these are safe and effective.

The Health department asked Filipinos who already have gotten themselves vaccinated to also help in engaging “those who remain hesitant to take the precious jab.”

“As family, friends, neighbors, employers, or co-workers, let our advice be their source of verified information and our actions be a manifestation of our love and concern. We cannot stop until all eligible Filipinos are vaccinated. After all, no one is safe, until everyone is safe,” it said.

The DOH also reminded the public the importance of testing and isolating once they experience symptoms of COVID-19.

“If you are exposed, get yourself with the right test at the right time,” the DOH said.

“If you have mild symptoms, use DOH-provided checklists to care for yourself at home. Get professional advice from telemedicine hotlines or primary care facilities especially when are fully vaccinated and boosted already,” it added.

“This shall help in keeping our hospital beds open for severe and critical COVID-19 cases, children who are not yet vaccinated as well as other patients suffering from non-COVID illnesses,” it furthered.
