Despite the challenges of the pandemic surge, Olivia V. Yanson, the matriarch of the family-owned Yanson Group of Bus Companies, sees a better transport business in 2022 as she led the annual election of their subsidiary, Southern Star Bus Transport Inc. (SSBTI).

For all the turbulence experienced by the management in the past three years, the group remains strong and resilient, said Yanson.
Furthermore, the family now expects a better grip of the ownership and management of all the bus companies they own, according to President and Chairman, Leo Rey Yanson.
In a statement, the group said the series of live annual stockholders meetings that the Yansons conduct for their subsidiaries affirms their legal ownership of the business.
The family was divided into two factions as they squabbled for control of the group's bus companies in court in 2019.
The faction led by the matriarch, Olivia V. Yanson, filed charges of falsification and perjury against the second faction, the Yanson four siblings - Roy V. Yanson, Ma. Lourdes Celina Yanson-Lopez, and Ricardo V. Yanson Jr.
Despite due notice given to them to attend annual stockholder meetings, the Yanson siblings never showed up. Roy, Celina and Ricardo Yanson are believed to be unable to attend the meetings because they are currently abroad together with their sister Emily Yanson.
They all have pending arrests warrants issued by the court.
On Jan. 17, the stockholders of SSBTI re-elected as directors Olivia V. Yanson, Leo Rey Yanson, Ginnette Y. Dumancas, Charles M. Dumancas and Arvin John V. Villaruel, according to a company statement issued to media.
Following the election of the directors, the board held an organizational meeting wherein Leo Rey V. Yanson was re-appointed as chairman of the board and president of SSBTI, while Olivia V. Yanson was re-appointed as SSBTI’s Corporate Secretary and Treasurer.
Previously on Jan 15 and 16, Olivia and Leo Rey Yanson also led the election of directors and officers in sister companies Mindanao Star Bus Transport Inc. (MSBTI) and Bachelor Express Inc. (BEI).
Earlier on Dec 4 and Jan. 3, Olivia and Leo Rey Yanson likewise spearheaded the election of directors and officers in Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI) and Ceres Liner Travel and Tours Inc. (CLTTI).
Last year, Oct. 21, a Bacolod City court appointed Olivia V. Yanson as the special administrator of the estate of her late spouse Ricardo B. Yanson. Spouses Ricardo and Olivia founded the Ceres Bus Lines, which includes among others VTI, CLTTI, MSBTI and BEI.
As special administrator, Olivia V. Yanson is in charge of the preservation and management of the estate of her late husband Ricardo.
