Taguig City’s total number of active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases has dropped to less than 300 after breaching the 1,000 mark.
According to data from the Taguig City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CEDSU), as of Jan. 17, Taguig has 281 active COVID-19 cases including 286 new cases out of 55,349 confirmed cases, 54,627 recoveries, and 441 deaths.

Last Jan. 15, Taguig recorded 1,050 active cases, which dropped to 417 the following day when Taguig registered 284 new cases and 917 recoveries.
From Jan. 11 to 17, the Taguig CEDSU tallied 1,822 new COVID-19 cases and 2,090 recoveries in the city.
Among the barangays, Fort Bonifacio has the highest number of active cases with 74, followed by Usuan with 29, Pinagsama with 19, and Lower Bicutan and Western Bicutan with 14 each.
Meanwhile, Taguig authorities are bringing unvaccinated persons flagged at checkpoints to vaccination sites for inoculation.
The Taguig City government said that on the first day of implementation last Jan. 7, 450 unvaccinated persons who were identified at checkpoints and wanted to get the jab were brought to vaccination centers to get their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
According to the city government, the program, which it describes as “malasakit approach,” aims to ensure that residents who want to get vaccinated will have easier access to vaccination.
It said unvaccinated individuals can still go out but they are limited to buying essential goods. Those with health issues that prevent them from being vaccinated are also allowed to travel.
As of Jan. 16, Taguig City has fully vaccinated 736,615 individuals, or 84 percent of the projected population of the city.
