SU provides psychological intervention to 'Odette'-hit communities

The Silliman University (SU) has shifted its efforts from relief operations to the rehabilitation of communities affected by Typhoon "Odette" through providing psychological intervention.

Dr. Edna T. Calingacion, head of SU Psychological Processing (PSP) Core Team, said they are now seeking more volunteers that they can train.

" to touch more people's lives and help in the process of restoration and healing requires willing individuals, schools, and groups to work together for a common purpose," she added.

Calingacion said the group will first conduct the PCP session with frontliners, such as church workers, health personnel, and disaster management personnel from affected local government units (LGUs) who have responded to the aftermath of Typhoon "Odette."

She furthered that SU will also train new volunteers from the faculty, staff, fourth-year students, church members, and alumni.

The University also partnered with schools in Dumaguete City to respond to the need of providing psychological intervention to eight municipalities, including Guihulngan City, La Libertad, Jimalalud, Tayasan, Ayungon, Bindoy, Manjuyod, and Bais City.
