EPD opens quarantine facility for COVID-infected personnel

The Eastern Police District (EPD) District Mobile Force Battalion (DMFB) opened on Wednesday, Jan. 19, a temporary quarantine facility for personnel who may become infected with coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Headed by DMFB officer-in-charge Lt. Col. Hendrix B. Mangaldan, the Kalingang Sinaglaya Temporary COVID-19 Quarantine Facility was built to help prevent the spread of the dreaded disease among the police.

EPD director Brig. Gen. Orlando O. Yebra Jr. facilitated the opening and blessing of the quarantine facility.

The event was attended by Col. Marcelo B. Dayag and PMaj. Rubyanna S. San Pedro of the EPD, Rev. Col. Arnulfo A. Castillo of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Ramon S. Fernando Jr. from the Battalion Advisory Council, and Sonny R. Que from the Manila Fil-Chinese Cavaliers and Federation.

The quarantine facility will also accommodate around 10 DMFB personnel who may display signs and symptoms of COVID-19.

Personnel who will be waiting for their RT-PCR test results may also stay in the facility, which will be manned by the Battalion Health Unit and the District Medical and Dental Unit.

The initiative was part of the EPD’s “Alagang EPD” program which aims to serve and protect the health and welfare of the members of the police force.

The EPD said it will also boost the morale of the cops who are serving as frontliners in this pandemic. (Khriscielle Yalao)
