Taguig City employee busted for illegal drugs

An employee of the Taguig City government was arrested by the police in a buy-bust operation on Monday, Jan. 17.

Southern Police District (SPD) director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg announced the seizure of P112,200 worth of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in Taguig and Muntinlupa during anti-illegal drug operations.

Elements from the SPD drug enforcement unit (DEU), together with personnel from the District Intelligence Division and District Mobile Force Battalion, conducted a buy-bust operation at about 9:50 p.m. along P. Mariano Street in Bgy. Ususan, Taguig.

The operation resulted in the arrest of Axl John Mariano, 25, an employee of the Taguig City government assigned to the City Administrator’s Office, according to the SPD.

Seized from him were four plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing about 15 grams with an estimated value of P102,000 and P500 buy-bust money.

In Purok 6, Guillermo Street, Bgy. Bayanan in Muntinlupa, the police’s DEU arrested Romel de Guzman in a buy-bust operation and confiscated two plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 1.5 grams with a value of P10,200 and P200 buy-bust money.

The seized illegal drugs were turned over to the SPD Forensic Unit for chemical analysis while the arrested suspects are now under the custody of the police.

Cases for violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against the suspects.
