QC gov't appeals for humane implementation of 'No Vaccination, No Ride' policy
The Quezon City (QC) government on Tuesday, Jan. 18, urged authorities to be more careful and humane in implementing the “No Vaccination, No Ride” policy after a woman was not allowed to ride a bus on Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) even as she is partially vaccinated against COVID-19.
It was learned that a woman was stopped by officials from riding a bus on her way to work on Monday, Jan.17, although she was able to present a QC vaccination card proving that she has already gotten her first dose.
In a statement, the local government confirmed that the vaccination card shown by the woman was issued by the city.
"Gayunman, nais linawin ng lokal na pamahalaan na ang pumigil sa babae ay hindi tauhan ng LGU, kundi ito ay operation ng Highway Partol Group base sa aming nakalap na impormasyon (However, the local government would like to clarify that the personnel who stopped the woman was not from the LGU as it was an operation of the Highway Partol Group based on the information we’ve gathered)," it said.
"Kasabay nito umaapela kami sa lahat ng aming kapwa lingkod-bayan na maging mas maingat at makatao sa pagpapatupad ng mga polisiya, patakaran at batas (At the same time we appeal to all our fellow public servants to be more careful and humane in implementing policies, rules and laws)," it added.
The local government said it is treating partially vaccinated people, as well as those with medical conditions, with utmost understanding.
It added that passengers who are willing to get jabbed will be brought to vaccination sites.
"Sa ngayon, nagbibigay lamang ng babala o warning ang ating law enforcement cluster (Currently, our law enforcement cluster only gives warnings)," it said.
It also said that the ordinance regulating the mobility of the unvaccinated in the city will take effect on Jan. 21.
