After posting a 150 percent year-on-year revenue growth, Filipino e-sports ecosystem and technology startup, Nexplay, is gearing up for its 2023 Series A fundraising and "the next revolution in gaming".
“The games industry in the region and in the Philippines is at an inflection point,” early investor Miguel Bernas, who now takes on a senior leadership role as Nexplay President and Co-Founder, said on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

The gaming tech startup is currently bolstering its e-sports ecosystem and enhancing its professional esports teams and content creator offerings to brands and advertisers.
“Aside from further expanding our esports ecosystem, we also plan to venture into the high-growth area of Web3.0, NFTs and blockchain gaming," the new president noted.
"In the same way that games leaped from arcades to the home, from desktop devices to mobile handsets and from offline to online, blockchain technology will be the next revolution in gaming,” Bernas stressed.
Already, the gaming tech startup's network of creators have a cumulative follower base of more than 200 million.
Nexplay is Southeast Asia’s premier esports ecosystem company, bringing technology, esports teams, content creators and influencers, brands and audiences together.
Headquartered in Singapore, its e-sports teams, Nexplay Evos, won multiple tournaments and is in the top echelon of e-sports teams in the region.
As new president and co-founder, Bernas will lead the startup's strategy and corporate governance.
He will also spearhead fundraising as the company moves towards its Series A investment round.
A veteran executive in both traditional and digital media, Bernas brings over 25 years of global media industry experience, having worked with some of the world’s best-known brands such as television networks MTV, CNBC, Singapore’s Mediacorp, and digital media pioneer Yahoo!
He has also led marketing teams in global and the Asia Pacific roles at Nokia, Singtel and PayPal.
“Miguel has been part of our team, backing us when all we had was a prototype and being one of our earliest investors,” said Gabriel Benito, CEO and Founder of Nexplay.
“To have him step up into a more active role and bring his global media experience to Nexplay will be a huge benefit to the team,” he said.
