More than 23,000 COVID-19 jabs administered in Manila on Jan.17

The Manila City government has administered a total of 23,022 vaccine doses on Monday, Jan. 17, as it continues to ramp up its vaccination drive to combat the surge in COVID-19 cases.

According to Manila Health Department director Dr. Arnold Pangan, the latest figure represented the highest number of COVID-19 jabs deployed in the city since July 31, 2021 wherein 44,584 residents got vaccinated.

The city government said the high vaccination record on Jan. 17 was partly due to the opening of more drive-thru inoculation sites in the city including the Kartilya ng Katipunan, Quirino Grandstand, and the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila.

“Mga kababayan good news. I think since November, eto na ‘yung pinakamataas natin kasi dati umabot tayo 40,000, 50,000 before. After that nung mga November nung ma-reach na natin ‘yung 100 plus percent, mga 7,000, mga 3,000 ganiyan. Ngayon, eto na ang pinakamalaki ngayong araw na ito, (Mga kababayan, good news. I think since November, this is our highest because we used to reach 40,000, 50,000 before. After that in November when we reached the 100 plus percent, about 7,000, about 3,000 like that. Now, this is highest today)" Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said.

Based on data from the Manila Public Information Office (PIO) on Jan. 17, around 7,566 individuals received their first dose, 4,193 were given their second dose, while11,263 got their booster shots.

As of Jan. 17, a total of 3,148,898 COVID-19 jabs have been administered in the city of Manila. Of this number, 1,662,045 were partially vaccinated and 1,527,311 were fully vaccinated.

A total of 273,341 residents have been inoculated with booster shots.

Meanwhile, the local government said a total of 241,844 jabs were given to minors, aged 12-17, wherein 130,452 were partially vaccinated while 111,392 were fully vaccinated.
