It's not that easy
As part of Kim Kardashian's efforts to have her husband Kanye West out of her life, she has already announced last Aug. 2021 that she will be rebranding her KKW beauty line to SKKN—and the target is early 2022. This is an attempt to take the W for West out of her company as well.
But according to Elle, New York spa and beauty centre SKKN+ owner Cydnie Lunsford is not going to let this slide so easily. Last year, she sent a cease-and-desist letter to Kim.
Now, The Sun gives another update through their exclusive article where they were able to extract documents that showed Kim Kardashian filing a trademark on "retail store services featuring skin, cosmetics, hair, nail and beauty products, tools and accessories, fragrances, perfumes, candles, vitamins and supplements.” But, wait, there's more—home furnishings are also included in the list.
The Sun also found out that SKKN+ started earlier in 2018. “We are still unresolved,” Cyndie's lawyer Erik Pelton tells The Sun. “The best resolution is for to choose a different name. She’s been on notice for this for months already."
Pelton also cleared that his client is not looking for financial compesation and hopes that Kim changes her plan to use SKKN.
Kim's counsel Michael Rhodes tells The Sun, “Without getting into the nuances of trademark law, suffice it to say that we disagree with their position. We made substantial efforts to work this out with them but were met with stonewalling. As such, we will protect Ms. Kardashian’s rights via the Trademark Office process.”
