Derek Ramsay explains 'frozen' GMA contract

Last April 2019 hunk actor Derek Ramsay signed an exclusive contract with GMA Network.

But after three years, he only made one project with them, which was the drama series "The Better Woman" along with former girlfriend Andrea Torres.

Note that since the pandemic happened, he hasn't accepted any work that require lock-in taping.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Morly Alinio on DZRH, Derek talked about his decision to "freeze" their deal.

“Freeze, suspended, it’s more like it,” he said. “Yes, it’s true... na choice ko at choice ng GMA."

"Kasi nung inalok sa akin yung 'To Have and To Hold,' yung teleserye ni Rocco (Nacino)... Carla Abellana, si Max Collins, nag-backout ako kasi prinioritize ko muna yung pamilya (dahil sa) nangyayari ngayon - yung sa COVID."

He's thankful that GMA network perfectly understood his request.

"So, naintindihan naman ng GMA yun, they respected my decision. So, nag-decide kami na i-suspend muna yung kontrata hanggang ready na ako magtrabaho ulit, when I feel na it’s safe na to work," he explained.

“Pero mukhang good choice kasi, tingnan mo ngayon, record-breaking, pataas nang pataas ang number ng cases. Prioritize ko muna yung pamilya ko. Tapos pag ready na daw ako, puwede nag i-reactivate yung kontrata.”
