Leading oil firm Petron Corp. is fully back on its toes in the operations of its terminals and gasoline stations in the areas pummelled by Typhoon Odette during the Christmas holidays.

“All stations that sustained damages in Visayas and Mindanao have been fully restored and operational less than a month since the onslaught of typhoon Odette,” the oil firm announced.

Petron said it ascended swiftly into its recovery path because its “on-ground teams worked double time to fast-track the restoration and re-opening of stations that had to close down to undergo damage assessment and repair.”

Nevertheless, the oil firm said that “repair works are still ongoing in a few more stations in Bohol, Cebu and Siargao” because these have been the hardest hit areas during the strongest typhoon that hammered the country last year.

Petron noted though that “despite the power outages, we’re still able to operate using generator sets.”

To date, the company indicated that close coordination with its dealers is carried out to guarantee “order and compliance” in the return-to-operation of its stations.

Petron was also able to keep its earlier assurance that it will be beefing up its product inventory to keep pace with anticipated increase in demand.

The oil firm said that it keenly supported meeting fuel demand in the typhoon-hit areas, primarily to aid government agencies on critical recovery and clearing efforts. It also met the fuel needs of hospitals, power plants, airports, water systems as well as other infrastructure facilities as they return to operation and bounce back from the heavy blow of the disaster.

“Petron’s terminals worked round-the-clock to meet the growth in demand, soaring by almost 200-percent in some affected areas,” the oil company said.

The country’s leading oil firm also emphasized that it deployed additional tank trucks “to accelerate the delivery process and reach more customers” while also instituting adjustments such as “securing alternative source plants to ensure continuous and uninterrupted product replenishment.”

The oil firm similarly pointed out its local teams, dealers and the coordination with local government units has enabled it to “identify the urgent concerns of vulnerable communities in typhoon-battered areas.”
