PCG frontline workers receive COVID-19 kits

A total of 1,000 pieces of COVID-19 kits were distributed to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) working as frontliners to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.

PCG Commandant Admiral Leopoldo V. Laroya commended the move of the PCGA as it came several days after 133 officers and personnel of the Coast Guard tested positive for the virus.

“It was a good gesture from the PCGA 102nd squadron,” PCG spokesperson CG Commodore Armando A. Balilo told Manila Bulletin Monday, Jan. 17 in a telephone interview.

“They are actually volunteers, the PCGA, and to come up with this idea to give COVID-19 kits – especially now that many of our personnel got sick – we at the PCG, led by Admiral Laroya, appreciate it very much.”

Each COVID-19 kit contained essential medicines against symptoms of the contagious virus, as well as multivitamins to strengthen the immune system of each individual.

Last week, seven offices of the PCG National Headquarters were forced to temporarily close due to a high number of infections. The offices already returned to operations Monday.
