Over 12,000 COVID-19 home care kits delivered in Makati

The Makati City local government announced on Monday, Jan. 17, that it has already distributed over 12,000 COVID-19 home care kits to its residents as it ramped up its COVID-19 response against the new surge of infections.

According to Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, a total of 12,138 positive symptomatic Makatizens have received the free COVID home care packages from the local government unit (LGU).

Binay said that the program started in August 2021 so that Makatizens who have tested positive can monitor and take care of themselves while under home quarantine.

The LGU said that each COVID-19 home care kit contains 20 tablets of Biogesic, 30 capsules of Ascorbic Acid, Bactidol, Kamilo San spray, Betadine throat spray, Green Cross 500ml Alcohol, Kool Fever, 1 box of face mask, a pulse oximeter, and an infrared thermometer.

“We ensure that our residents who have tested positive have the right equipment that can help them monitor themselves at home, especially with the highly contagious Omicron variant now in our midst. We want to be able to boost their recovery in the comfort of their homes,” Binay said.

“We also ensure that these home care kits are delivered right at their doorstep by assigned MAC personnel and we also provide food packages to the individuals that are home quarantined upon their request,” she added.

The mayor also reported that personnel from the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) are calling up residents who test positive so they can be profiled and instructed on the next steps of their quarantine.

Aside from the COVID-19 home care kit, the LGU has continuously mitigated the spread of the coronavirus through rigorous identification and isolation of positive individuals, and contact tracing of the close contacts of those who tested positive.

The Makati CESU has also provided free community swabbing to residents who show symptoms of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, Mayor Abby reminded all Makatizens not to be complacent and vigilantly monitor themselves when they show symptoms.

As of Jan. 16, Makati City has recorded 1,540 active COVID-19 cases among its residents. It added that 44,635 have recovered from the coronavirus while 989 have died.
